Wednesday.. another happening Prof

Asalamualaikum,

 

Well yesterday setelah sekian lama dapat gak borak dengan Reed. I called him at this office. (Tried 2 times the day before).

 

Luke did mention he writes his blog after dinner and on Sat afternoons cause that's his free time. Well I should do that too.

 

1. Yesterday is another agonizing class day of Molecular Biotech. The subject matter is quite in depth. The Prof tries to make it simple and cheery-like. She is tall, stature like a model and for me looked like Uma Thurman. She has multiple pearcings on her earlobes and. wears interesting piece of pendant that looks exotic and thus making her cool, but smart. I like her.

 

The thing is the subject is still taxing. Well this is PhD, you do not expect to be given everything. And as the class goes, she gives a particular topic, we have to make our own research and reading on it and discuss it in a scholarly manner in class. Truthfully, for me a Molecular Journal Paper takes a whole day for me to really understand. And that doesnt necessarily mean to digest. I would like to say I partially digested it.

 

 

And when you come to class, all perky and ready for the discussion of questions, when you open your mouth, nothing makes sense. Or for me, DOESNT make an Impact. That means it would make me like..not understand so much. There are keywords they say, that is enough to you know make people know YOU KNOW..

And to UNDERSTAND is one thing, to EXPLAIN is another.

 

I blame it more on the CULTURE..it takes awhile you know. To be mentioning ONE WORD and people understand it as A PASSAGE. And I am still learning. CULTURE and CULTURE.

 

I had no mood yesterday after the class. The positive thing to say is...at least I SPOKE in class, cause there are participation marks in class. And me speaking as I will, will make me more and more confident to speak out in class..for the future.

 

2. Today is Thursday, and I am looking forward for the Movie Persepolis-animated Iranian movie about growing up in Iran. I am watching it with my labmate.

 

3. To all the muslim Phd or postgrad candidates out there, I would like to advise in order to be on track, please listen to nasyid or Al-Quran. It is one of the things that would get you on track. And although how down you may be..It can surely be an enlightentment. Inside and out. InsyaAllah.
